NCDOT US 117 Widening

JSmith Civil is actively working on the C204131 urban widening project in a busy corridor of historic N. William St. in Wayne County, NC. The project includes relocating approximately 10,000 LF of underground utilities, widening the entire roadway, 60,000 tons of paving, 12,000 LF of new storm drainage, properly abandoning contaminated soils, a culvert extension, and installing brand new signals.

All work must adhere to strict traffic control restrictions and JSC safety protocol. The project will be completed in three main phases, with multiple deadlines in between to mitigate the impact to the traveling public.

The work requires constant communication with a half dozen of other utility owners and mitigating conflicts weekly. JSC crews are progressing well and on track to finish the project by NCDOT’s delivery date October of 2023.
