At JSmith Civil, our team is our most valuable asset and protecting the health and safety of all our employees and associates is our top priority. We are committed to the highest standards of safety performance by prioritizing safety every day and for every job. We pride ourselves in not only providing superior work, but also by providing a zero-injury work environment goal- no incidents, no injuries, and no excuses.
Our safety division consists of both a Risk Manager and a Safety Coordinator. Our Risk Manager has over 25 years’ experience in all aspects of safety risk management, training and leadership. Our Safety Coordinator is a certified trainer in multiple programs which allows for administration of all employee training in-house, conduct of complete routine job-site safety inspections, as well as on-the-job safety training. JSmith Civil also have certified mechanics who conduct inspections at regular intervals to ensure the equipment we use is well within our maintenance and inspection guidelines.
JSmith Civil’s Superintendents have certifications in OSHA 30, and our Foremen have certifications in OHSA 10 and training such as: Excavation and Confined Space, Lifting and Rigging, SDS, Defensive Driving, First Aid/CPR, and Flagging. Also, most of our field personnel have that same training and certifications. JSmith Civil conducts Daily Safety Talks, Job Inspection, and Vehicle Inspection reports weekly, and our CDL drivers inspect trucks daily using a 40-point checklist.
